Two Months On!
It's been two months and I've been very busy.
But first a very big apology for not writing as often as I should be here.
I've been working on my tapestry of Lake Como, Italy - which is a big long one and is over 30 years old. But whodathunkit that I'd be doing such a big one like this? And I'm doing this for my bedroom - which will cost a lot of money to get it framed. So, I'm starting to save up big now for it.
Anyway, I'm hoping to get in and do some major selling of some books I'll be getting published later this year and artwork during this year too.
How this is going to happen isn't going to be easy; but it's plausible.
I've become a financial member of the Logan Artists Association over the past few weeks; and so far, I've done and learned so much more than I ever had over the past 20 years at another gallery I've been working at.
This says a lot about how I've been treated... and I'm hoping that this new place - which is also an art school - teaches me more about the art world than ever!
I'm currently taking lessons on how to get myself into water-based oil paints with Aaron Pocock - who's an oil painter and he's recently had an exhibition at the LAA. Then, I took part in the 'Black and White' Exhibition during the week of International Womens Day... and what an exhibition that was! I loved it! Such a challenge. I put in once called 'The Post-Ictal Brain' which showed what it was like to be in a post-seizure state (something people don't really understand about). A lot of people Googled the title of my painting and realised how bad it was for me and other people living with Epilepsy. It really touched them; as well as my folks - who also saw the painting.
I'm looking forward to learning and working more at the art school at Loganlea. It's going to open my eyes and mind more into what I can and can't do... but more with what I can. Until my next post, keep creating!
