Plaster Everywhere!
I've been keeping myself busy thoughout April - when I thought I'd be relaxing, seeing I have the month off from going to markets.
Boy! Was I wrong!
Anyway, I was at the Logan Art Gallery last Tuesday when I found they were one short for a workshop, I volunteered to take that person's place. They told me it was a 4-day workshop and I said I was in! Well, it was to make a plaster-cast torso where you expressed what was deep down inside yourself - your deepest dreams, desires, hopes, nighmares, or anything you'd never really tell anyone - on the torso.
We're working with teenagers from all walks of life. Some of them attend private schools, some public schools, there's a few who go to 'Boystown' and there's a teacher and me. We all have a great time, and talk about ourselves during the workshop days - as we're with each other for 6 hours at a time... so there's a lot of sharing going on.
My torso is about books and how much I feel my life is complete with them, incomplete without them and if how I see my life from within... I've downloaded a collection of quotes from authors, pulled together some paintbrushes and paint I'm taking to my last day of work tomorrow and I'm hoping to make it really look great!
But instead of showing you all what it looks like on here, come to the Logan Art Gallery next Friday night for the opening and you can see my piece there. It's going to be a great night.
